Skin tone: fair
Skin type: combination to oily
ColourPop Super Shock Shadows and Highlighters can be counted as two of my all-time favourite cream formulas. Previously, I had reviewed ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter Glazed, and in this post, I will be reviewing ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter in the shade Butterfly Beach. So, let’s see how this shade fared.
This long-wearing crème powder cheek formula is the BFF of our famous Super Shock Shadows
It shares the same unique texture that is extremely buildable and blends smoothly to leave the cheeks looking healthy
Shade Rose Golds, Silvers
Net Weight 4.2g (0.15oz)
Dimethicone, isononyl isononanoate, trimethylsiloxysilicate, dimethicone crosspolymer, ethylhexyl isononanoate, isopropyl myristate, vinyl dimethicone/methicone silsesquioxane crosspolymer, phenoxyethanol, synthetic fluorphlogopite, stearalkonium hectorite, ethylhexylglycerin, propylene carbonate, red 6 (ci 15850), iron oxides (ci 77491), mica (ci 77019), titanium dioxide (ci 77891).
The packaging of ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter is a pretty standard white round compact with holographic writing on the top saying ‘ColourPop’, which fades away with time. The packaging is similar to their Super Shock Shadow’s packaging. The bottom of the compact specifies the name “Butterfly Beach”. The product comes in a white cardboard box with the name of the product and the ingredient list. Overall, the packaging is lightweight and travel-friendly.
The color has been described as “warm beige with a silvery sheen”. In reality, the color is darker compared to the pictures on the website. Once you apply it on the cheeks and blend it out, it gives a slight flush of brownish glow to the cheeks.
The texture is smooth and creamy and blends effortlessly on the skin. People with dry skin will love it for sure as this does not cling to dry patches of the skin. The texture is quite lightweight and non-sticky. It does not add any greasiness to the skin. I have a combination to oily skin and this highlighter does not make my skin oily at all.
My Experience with ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter Butterfly Beach:
Let’s begin with the packaging of the product. The packaging is cute and perfect to carry around. All ColourPop Super Shock products are best applied with fingers. I have fair skin with yellow undertones.
I was disappointed to find that this highlighter is so much darker than what it looks like in the pictures on the website. It gives a bronze-golden glow, which perfect for medium to dark skin tones. On fair skin tones, it gives a bronze glow without looking shimmery or gaudy.
I won’t say that the color looks very appealing on fair skin tones. It’s a gorgeous shade, just not my shade!. So, I use it as an eye shadow as well as a highlighter. It lasts about 4 hours on me, which is fairly good. I’m in love with the formula – so smooth and buttery. The formula compels me to try other shades as well.
Pros of ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter Butterfly Beach:
Gives a natural glow
Creamy, soft texture
Suits all skin types
Best suited for medium-dusky skin tones
Cons of ColourPop Super Shock Highlighter Butterfly Beach:
Doesn’t last all day, requires touch-up
Doesn’t suit fair skin tones
IMBB Rating: 4.4/5
